The New York Yankees are about to rock baseball with one of the biggest trades in years

It looks like Giancarlo Stanton is heading for the Big Apple.

THE NEW YORK Yankeers will sign home run king Giancarlo Stanton from the Miami Marlins in a blockbuster deal, according to reports in the US media on Saturday.

USA Today was among the outlets reporting that the teams had agreed terms for a deal, which the 28-year-old Marlins slugger must approve under the no-trade clause in his contract.

The newspaper, citing an unnamed source, said the Yankees were one of four teams the reigning National League MVP was willing to be traded to.

Stanton’s current contract is said to be the largest in professional sports worldwide and worth $295 million over its 10 remaining years.

A day earlier, the St Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants both said they had agreed to terms with the Marlins but Stanton declined to waive his no-trade clause and they were out of the running.

The Cardinals and Giants had both had Stanton in their sights from the time that the new Marlins ownership group, led by former Yankees great Derek Jeter, made it known they wanted to trade Stanton in order to cut their payroll.

Miami are set to receive Yankees infielder Starlin Castro and minor league prospects in the deal.

Stanton led the major leagues in home runs this season with 59, in runs-batted-in (132), extra-base hits (91) and slugging percentage (.631). He became just the sixth player to win an MVP award while playing for a losing team.

In eight seasons with the Marlins he is a .268 hitter with 267 home runs and 672 RBIs.

In New York he’ll join a lineup that already includes American League Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge, who blasted 52 home runs in the regular season to break Mark McGwire’s rookie record of 49 homers.

I think it’s more the fact that United won last year and this year with the same players they have been shocking! It’s embarrassing to call themselves champions!!

Arsenal, Chelsea and City have made it interesting? Yes, but does it hurt him that much he can’t even admit Liverpool have been just as impressive? United under Moyes have no chance at winning anything! But I agree, give Moyes time! It’s working wonders for everyone else :)

If he fails to beat Olympiacos over the two legs, then it’s time to go. Either look for Jurgen Klopp or someone with true success

Why would anyone want to go there? Klopp is managing a champions league side and a team that are far better!!

In one way Dave though, Klopp is being pillaged by Bayern Munich. Strategy there seems to be to just buy out the rivals best players!

True, but he has only one team picking off the better players! United have Chelsea, City and even Arsenal getting ahead as the players choices!! And the original statement is still true that United are not as good a team and Klopp would be taking a backward step!!

Two things Dave. 1st off tell me one player Arsenal have signed that United wanted in recent years? Secondly, why would anyone go to Manchester United? If you are seriously asking that question then you know very little about football.

Love the way Liverpool fans think it’s all lovely and roses in the Liverpool camp, with them doing so well and all, even though the only difference between them and united has been 11 points this season… Hey least united will be in action next Wednesday… I mean is there even a difference between the managers in terms of silverware??? but no, Liverpool to dominate for the next 20 years!!! United to hopefully not be relegated!!!

I love the way 16 people have red thumbed that comment. If you think United have too much class to sack Moyes you are deluded!
