GARY NEVILLE BELIEVES that Saturdayโs 2-0 win over Tottenham is the best performance heโs seen out of Arsenal.
Goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez made the difference for the Gunners, but the 42-year-old believes every player in the side deserves credit after their dominant showing against their rivals.
It was Arsenalโs first league win over Spurs in over three years.
โI didnโt think Arsenal would lose before the game being honest because I think after international duty, to go away from home at 12.30pm, is not easy,โ he said on the Gary Neville Podcast.
โBut thatโs as good as Iโve seen Arsenal, it really is. I wondered after ten minutes would they be able to keep it up? Is it just a bold start that would fizzle out?
โBut it was a really, really good performance. Overall my assessment of the game today was Arsenal were absolutely fantastic from number one to 11. There wasnโt a poor performer.โ
While Neville pointed to Arsenalโs attacking trio of Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette as the players who impacted Spurs the most with their pressing, he singled the German out for the highest praise while wondering why they donโt get those man-of-the-match showings out of him more often.
โOzil is fantastic on the ball. A great decision maker but he can become despondent,โ he said. โHis body language can set the tone for the rest of the actual players on the pitch and the stadium.
โToday I can think of a Mousa Dembele challenge in the first half. His work rate in getting back was there and why canโt we see that every single time?
โThierry Henry said it in commentary โtheyโve set a standardโ. Weโve seen what they can do now and those three can win an incredible amount of points for this football club because the rest of those teammates will come with them if they can perform like that.โ
The result leaves Arsenal just a point behind fourth-placed Tottenham as the club tries to return to Champions League football next season.

Got to go full guns. We can rest players if we make the semis.
@Farz S: haha
@Farz S: ha! Good craic!
McCloskey 23
@Gary Galligan: ireland by 24
I think Ross Byrne will get the bench this time
Itโs all about just winning. A good kicker might be the difference
@Paul Harvey: looks like Ross is plan C.
@Paul Harvey: Crowley is a winner who makes his kicks so youโll need to come up with something else
Realistically, in 7 days, we take on the All Blacks. So, l would start most of the bench. Our front row bomb squad comes on when needed. Beard for Pete @ 6. Conan for Dorris, who replaces JVF after 50 mins. Crowley covers plays a bit at 12. JOB to start or at least have 23 the shirt. Scotland might have patches, especially the wingers, but likely to lose by 20+ points.
@D Farrell: Youโre dead, right!
@D Farrell: itโs that kind of arrogance we were seeing in 2007 and 2019
Healy for Kilcoyne
@Anton phelan: go watch a Leinster match. Some of us want to support Ireland instead
Would love to see Jimmy Oโ Brien get the 23 shirt and a well deserved world cup cap. His versatility suits this fixture.
@Gos9: in what sense or why this fixture in particular ?
Start Finlay with Furlong on the bench. Thoughts??
