THE NOMINEES FOR the GAA-GPA Opel player of the month awards for July have been revealed with Monaghan, Mayo, Kildare, Waterford, Kilkenny and Galway all represented.
The shortlist for the football accolade includes Mayo star Aidan OโShea, Monaghanโs Conor McManus and Paul Cribbin of Kildare.
OโShea produced one of the most sparkling displays of sharp-shooting in the Connacht championship final demolition of Sligo, finishing with 3-4 to his name.
McManus, meanwhile, spearheaded Monaghanโs provincial crown in Ulster as he scored 0-6 in the final against Donegal and Cribbin starred as Kildare enjoyed an extended run to the quarter-final.
In the hurling category, Waterfordโs Maurice Shanahan, Kilkenny forward TJ Reid and Jonathon Glynn of Galway are in the running.
Although the Dรฉise fell short in the Munster final, Shanahan scored 0-8 before inspiring Waterford to victory over Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter-final at Croke Park with 1-12.
TJ Reid and Kilkenny played just once in July but the Ballyhale Shamrocks man fired 1-9 in the Leinster final win over Galway at HQ.
Galway remain in the hunt for the Liam McCarthy Cup and central to their run to the semi-finals has been 22-year-old Glynn. A return of 1-4 from two outings during July included one of Galwayโs two goals against Cork in the quarter-final.
The winners will be chosen by the inter-county playing body and will be announced at a presentation at Croke Park on Wednesday morning.
Who do you think deserves to scoop the silverware?
