RTÉ announce their live TV schedule for GAA championship games for 2018

The coverage begins on 13 May in Parnell Park and Castlebar.

RTÉ HAVE ANNOUNCED their live television schedule of GAA championship games for 2018 with the new changes to the football and hurling structures having an expected impact on their coverage.

10 provincial hurling games will be broadcast as Leinster and Munster get set for their new round-robin formats while only seven ties will be televised from the four provincial football championships.

There will be seven hurling games in Munster alone televised with Dublin v Kilkenny, Galway v Kilkenny and the decider to be screened in Leinster.

Only three provincial football championship games outside of the four finals in the provinces, will be televised live by RTÉ. These are the Connacht opener between Mayo and Galway, the Ulster tie featuring Fermanagh/Armagh and Tyrone/Monaghan on 3 June and the Leinster football semi-final on 10 June that is expected to feature Dublin.

The coverage begins on Sunday 13 May with the live games in Parnell Park and Castlebar with radio coverage starting this Sunday 6 May as Leitrim face New York.

Tempers flare in the closing stages Mayo and Galway do battle in Pearse Stadium on 11 February. Donall Farmer / INPHO Donall Farmer / INPHO / INPHO

Wouldn’t have Giggs in the team I think he is so overrated. His longevity made him great but I don’t think has ever been the outstanding players for united in one given year never mind in the league. I’d have players like Pires as better wingers than him but over shorter period of course. Giggs at his peak against at his peak Pires I’d have Pires.

@Irishoversea: I’d go along with a lot of that team with maybe just a few exceptions. Kompany is the obvious one but I’d also add that Irwin and Cole were both left backs. OK you can say that Irwin could also play at right back but that wasn’t his position so you can’t say he was the best ever in that position. Speaking with my United bias I’d have Irwin ahead of Cole as LB but that still leaves a vacancy at RB.

Amazed there wasn’t a Vidic/Rio CB partnership. Actually one of the better all time XIs I’ve seen. A City player should be included, and Yaya, Silva and Aguero have too much competition. Zabaleta at right back might have been a better pick to include a City player. Gerrard or Lampard for Scholes and you’re golden. I’d have to have Schmeichel over Cech though.

Cantona was only at United for 4 and a half seasons (4 if you take his long suspension into account) and Gerrard never won the PL. In fact Gerrard is the only player in the whole squad without a PL winner’s medal. The only question that remains is why are there no Leicester players in the squad? :-)

I think having Kompany in there is ridiculous but, otherwise a very strong team!

Pointless exercise. You could line up three or four best XIs and it would be hard to pick a winner amongst them.

No Bergkamp is a disgrace, should be in the team ahead of Shearer, Vieira who captained the invincibles has to be in that midfield although it’s hard to oust Keane or Scholes after all their success. Pires, Ljungberg, Lauren, Suarez, Torres, Rooney, Zola all deserve a mention. Kompany very lucky to be in he squad never mind the starting line up with the likes of Tony Adams, Sol Campbell, Vidic and even Kolo Toure achieving more!

Cole and Giggs on the same flank. They’d concede a shite load down that wing.
