Freiburg’s Pavel Krmas didn’t have luck on his side on what was supposed to be a special day for him.

Believe it or not, Steven Gerrard did not have the weekend's worst farewell

Frieburg’s Pavel Krmas managed to get his club relegated with a bizarre own goal….in his last ever game.

IN HIS FINAL Premier League game for Liverpool, Steven Gerrard led his side to their worst defeat in 52 years. That’s not exactly a dream farewell but somehow, it was not the worst farewell of the weekend.

German side Freiburg went into their final game of the Bundesliga season knowing that anything short of a draw would see them relegated for the first time since 2005. Czech defender Pavel Krmas, who had been with the club since 2007, was hoping to lead his side to safety in his final game before retirement.

But in a tragic end to his time in the Bundesliga, the 35-year-old would instead play a decisive role in their relegation. Already 1-0 down to Hannover, Krmas seemed to panic as the ball went loose following a great close-range save from goalkeeper Roman Bürki. Bürki could only watch in horror as Krmas put his foot through the ball and sent it past him in their own net.

Freiburg did manage to hit back with a Nils Peterson goal but it wasn’t enough as they went down 2-1 — Krmas’ own-goal proving to be the deciding factor.

Poor Pavel…

Wasn’t his fault. Keeper pushed it on to him. Nothing he could do. Probably would of cleared it if keeper hadnt of connected first.

Also would of been saved i should say if he wasn’t there. Just an unfortunate mix up. These things happen regularly.
