HIS DAYS AS a top contender in the UFC’s heavyweight division may be over, but Frank Mir showed last night that there’s still life in the old dog.
Mir took just 1:13 to defeat Todd Duffee in the main event at UFC Fight Night 71 — the organisation’s third event in five days — which took place in San Diego.
Duffee appeared to have Mir on the back-foot until the 36-year-old former champion countered with a big left that sent his opponent crashing to the canvas.

Mir has now won his last two bouts via first-round KO, having defeated Antonio ‘Bigfoot, Silva back in February.
Don’t write him off just yet.
Frank Mir is still a force to be reckoned with. The last time I saw Duffee get KO’d like that was against Mike Russow.
Mir’s a legend – that ankle lock on Lesner was one of the most sensational moments in the UFC
I saw him fight Big Nog live to. Nog was down for ages after he broke his shoulder. Mir is a beast.
That was crazy looking, my shoulder’s getting sore thinking about it
