'It's going to feel so good to beat the crap out of Conor' says UFC rival Mendes

Mendes and Ricardo Lamas can’t seem to get McGregor off their minds.

UFC FEATHERWEIGHT CONTENDERS Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas will square off in April, but their obsession with a certain Irishman remains alive and well.

When the pair were guests on a US radio show this week, the conversation inevitably turned to Conor McGregor. Not for the first time, Mendes and Lamas were less than complimentary.

Lamas referenced this terrible McGregor parody video he put together recently, and did so using an Irish accent that definitely needs a bit of work.

Mendes said: “It’s going to feel so good to beat the crap out of Conor. Because the guy’s just a big tool. I’m trying to be nice here. I could definitely say a lot meaner things.”

Mendes is assuming he’ll get the opportunity to ‘beat the crap’ out of the Dubliner, but McGregor is already booked to face defending champion Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title in Las Vegas on 11 July.

Should McGregor emerge victorious, Mendes might not get the chance he claims to want so badly, having fallen short in two previous UFC title bouts.

A cynical person might suggest that Mendes and Lamas are a little jealous about being overtaken by a fighter who had yet to win a Cage Warriors bout when they were making their UFC debuts back in 2011.

The pair then discussed their upcoming bout — scheduled for 4 April in Fairfax, Virginia — and basically proceeded to talk about how great they are.

You’re the best. No, YOU’RE the best. Mendes and Lamas have got McGregor on the brain, but they clearly haven’t been paying attention to his lessons on how to sell a fight.

You can check out the video below. The McGregor part of the interview begins at 5:44. The Mendes/Lamas love-in follows immediately afterwards.

    Must really kill the likes of Mendes,to watch someone with a bit of Charisma just walk into the UFC and basically take over as 1 of the main fighters in its ranks,earn more money in a year than he has in 10,sign sponsorship deals worth millions and have the ability to sell out football stadiums. All he talks about is how “if you put an elite wrestler in with an elite striker the wrestler will whoop their ass” WRONG!!! Aldo never wrestled in his life and some great wrestlers haven’t even got close to taken him down never mind whooping him,for the simple reason that in order to take someone down you need to get close,as soon as they shoot or get close they feel the power of the elite strikers,realise their speed and quickly throw that gameplan out the window,what JBJ did to DC being a prime example.

    Maybe when Mendes is finished giving Lamas a reach around, he can consider why his famed wrestling didn’t wash with Aldo – who hasn’t got half the takedown defence of Conor

    Siver attempted some sloppy takedowns in desperation as the “kickboxer” was getting minced going toe to toe

    @Colm Kearney:
    Don’t know what fight you were watching,because Mcgregors takedown defence in that fight was 100%,and in his ufc career I don’t think anyone has been successful in taking him down.

    Unbearable bellend is a considerable enough takedown in itself. Quality !
