THE FAI ARE set to give away free tickets to fans travelling to the Hungary-Ireland friendly match, it has been announced.
The association say there will be 150 free tickets made available for those intending to travel to the game, which takes place on June 4.
Only a small number of the Irish team’s fans are expected to travel to Budapest, while the team will fly directly to their Euro 2012 base in Poland the following day.
The Association is making the gesture as a means of rewarding these fans for their loyalty.
A small number of free tickets are still available and requests can be made to ticket.office@fai.ie.
Speaking following the announcement, FAI CEO John Delaney said:
“The Irish supporters will be the twelfth man this summer when they travel in record numbers to Poland. Although only a few supporters are expected to travel to Budapest for our match on June 4, this small gesture of 150 free tickets is the least we can do to recognise their huge commitment.”
It has also been announced that Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan on September 7 will take place in Astana.
However, the FAI recommends that supporters intending to travel await official FIFA notification of this venue before making final flight arrangements.
yea go to budapest and youll get one locally for about a fiver
Ah thanks anyway John – I’ll take that free Spain ticket instead.
Nothing in life is ever for free ……..
Free ticket to a game with no demand & maybe throw in a can of beer and i may try to forget your salary while the domestic game you’re meant to be responsible for, falls apart. Leech
So true John, it’s hard to believe that Delaney is on €450k per year. He is a complete bungler and almost everything he touches becomes a monumental cock up.
Get them tickets at gate for as little as 3 or 5 euro!!
He is a shoe in for the Olyminpic job. Also a pal of Pat Hickey – SOUND FAMILIAR?
i am very surprised. Didnt realise Delaney had 150 loyal fans.
Does any public money fund the FAI?
Who is on the board that votes on Delaney’s OBSCENE pay packet?
Is that board’s pay determined by themselves or John Delaney? Are there any shareholders?
Is any of his 450k pay performance related? Or are there bonuses on top of that for showing up?
Seems like a job for life, classic Irish cronyism at its best.
Is Delaney an ex-player of any pedigree?
There is explanation needed, its the usual shite ,but if someone tried to do something about it ,like in other countries ,they would be slated and called scum,oh howthe irish have lost their balls ,cowards will always get taken for granted and bullied, the rich are laughing at the poor ,and they are right,we deserve it.450k for overseeing a tiny football association, they will be giving out lump sums for failure and disaster next, plus huge pensions….oh sorry thats the politicians gig,im mixed up with all the bullshit.
How about rewarding your season ticket holders with a ticket to one of the Polish Games? Got nothing out of the “lottery” and have been going to games for 3 years.
