Everton FC to unveil plaque in memory of 96 Hillsborough victims

Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright and Margaret Aspinall, Chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, will make the unveiling.

EVERTON ARE TO unveil a plaque in memory of the 96 Hillsborough victims who died tragically in a stadium crush during the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in 1989, the club have revealed.

Everton and Liverpool are big rivals normally, however their competitive nature will be put to one side temporarily ahead of the Merseyside Derby this weekend, as the two clubs unite to pay respect to the victims.

Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright and Margaret Aspinall, Chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, are set to unveil the plaque, which will serve as a permanent tribute to the 96 who died and their families, ahead of Saturday’s game.

Speaking following the announcement, Aspinall said: “This is a really lovely gesture from Everton, paying tribute to the 96 who lost their lives at Hillsborough.

“I would like to thank Bill and everyone involved, not least the Everton fans who have provided great support to the families over the years.”

Should have been micah Richards. There is only a debate about Rio Ferdinand because of the racism row.

Rio Ferdinand is more that capable of doing a job for England, instead, Martin Kelly gets a call up. Im pretty happy though, the less united players that play in euro 2012 the better.
