Clontarf and Ballyboden both book Dublin SFC semi-final spots

CLONTARF BOOKED THEIR place in the Dublin Senior Football Championship semi-finals with a comprehensive 12-point win over St. Anne’s in the first of today’s quarter-finals in Parnell Park.

Ciaran Johnson top scored with 0-8 for Clontarf as they dominated the early stages, finding themselves five points up at the break as Anne’s struggled to make their mark on the game.

A wasted goal chance just before half-time would come back to haunt the Bohernabreena outfit as they only managed three points in the second period when Clontarf’s defenders took control of the game to run out easy winners.

Ballyboden St. Endas 1-12
St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh 1-11

Joining them in the final four will be Ballyboden St. Endas after Andrew Kerin’s late point saw them get past St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh by the smallest of margins.

Bernard Brogan’s goal had put Plunkett’s in control in the first half before a perfect pass from Dublin team-mate Michael Darragh MacCauley found Colm Basquel in front of the post and he raised the green flag to ensure Ballyboden only trailed by a point at the half, 1-5 to 1-6.

The sides exchanged the lead several times in the second half and it looked like the game would head to extra time when Padraic Lee pointed for Plunkett’s late on. However, Kerin’s score would prove to be decisive.

Wexford SFC final

St. James 0-11
St. Martin’s 1-6

St James are Wexford senior champions for the first time in their history after a two-point win over St. Martin’s in Wexford Park this afternoon.

The Ramsgrange outfit led by just a point following a low-key first half, 0-5 to 0-4.

After a penalty goal from Ciarán Lyng, the sides were evenly matched throughout the second half but it was was St James who scored the final two points of the game to make history.

Roscommon SHC final replay

Four Roads 0-17
Padraig Pearses 1-11

Four Roads won their eighth Roscommon SHC title in eight years with a three-point win over Padraig Pearses in Dr. Hyde Park.

Adam Finnerty scored the only goal of the game to give Pearses a 1-6 to 0-8 lead at the break.

However, Four Roads finished the stronger to continue their domination of Roscommon hurling.
