FRESH FROM THEIR recent defeat to Kerry in the Division 1 league final, the Dublin footballers will return to action with their clubs this weekend.
The Dublin county board have confirmed this weekโs SFC games will go ahead as planned, despite the upcoming All-Ireland U21 football final on 29 April.
Dublin take on Galway in the U21 decider and Dessie Farrellโs side face a fragmented build-up to the game as the vast majority of the squad will be on club duty this weekend.
Reigning champions St Vincentโs beging their title defence against Round Towers on Saturday evening, while 2016 All-Ireland champions Ballyboden St Endaโs play St. Oliver Plunkettโs/Eoghan Ruadh in the game of the round on the opening night.
That game will be part of a double-header at Parnell Park on Thursday night, with St. Judeโs v Naomh Mearnog acting as the curtain-raiser.
Michael Darragh Macauley and Conal Keaney will go into battle against the Brogan brothers, Bernard and Alan, and with former Kerry star Paul Galvin.
Galvin completed his transfer to the Plunketts over the winter and looks set to make his senior championship debut against Ballyboden.
The competition has a straight knockout format, with the losers of the Round 1 games going into the Senior โBโ Football Championship.

Straight knock out, in April!! How do they keep the players interested! Surely the biggest GAA organization in the country can give club players more than one game in the actual Senior Championship. Iโm stunned tbh.
Itโs all about the county team ask the g.p.a the club dosen t matter
Look at what the donegal u 21s had to do. win their province on a Monday and play an all Ireland semi against Dublin 5 days later. Absolutely shocking way to treat players. What would have happened if the Donegal seniors got to the div 1 league final. With 5 senior panellists would they have been expected to play that game on the Sunday, their provincial final in the u 21 on the Monday and the semi on the Saturday. as much as the GAA do right this is really wrong.
