Derry steal controversial win from Kildare, while Louth and Wexford maintain winning starts

We take you through all the action from the three lower tiers of the Allianz Football League.

DERRY SNATCHED VICTORY from Kildare at the death in their Division 2 clash at Celtic Park.

Emmett McGuckin fisted in a controversial goal deep into stoppage-time, with the Lilywhites furious that referee Sean Hurson failed to award a free out for a foul on goalkeeper Mark Donnellan.

It was a first league defeat for Kildare in 2017, after opening their season with impressive victories over Meath and Cork.

Chris Healy bagged Kildare’s opening goal in their 1-18 to 1-17 defeat, while Jamies Kielt top-scored for the home side with nine points.

In Division 3 Louth remain on course for promotion after picking up their third straight victory in the third tier.

Armagh defeated Longford on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-9 to pick up their first win of the campaign. Jamie Clarke, Oisin O’Neill and Stefan Campbell hit the net for the Orchard in an impressive victory.

Finally, Antrim also secured their first points in the division to move off the foot of the table. They ran out 0-11 to 1-7 winners over Sligo, who led by two at the break thanks to Niall Murphy’s goal.

If they are forced to sell their P Shares (worth about 15-20 million) it will be the end of them as a Premiership team. Hopefully they can keep them as it makes it more likely they will return.

@Kingshu: I think it was pre-mature to drop them out of the Premiership entirely. What if someone buys them won’t they lose revenue if outside of the Premiership for 2022-2023? Will this increase their debt situation?

That’s very sad. It’s not the fan’s fault. I hope they get a buyer soon
