Diarmuid O'Sullivan rules himself out of the 'the most prestigious job in hurling'

The Rock clarified his stance on Twitter this morning.

CORK LEGEND DIARMUID O’Sullivan has issued a statement to rule himself out of the running for his county’s senior hurling manager’s job.

The Rock had been linked to the vacancy since Kieran Kingston stepped down last week after leading Cork to a Munster title and All-Ireland semi-final.

O’Sullivan was a selector in the previous regime and was considered by many to be among the favourites for the role.

However, in a statement on Twitter this morning, he ended all speculation:

John Myler, another selector from 2017, Mark Landers and Pat Ryan are the top three in the betting to take over the Rebels.

The most prestigious job in hurling? Did he forget to add ‘in cork’ onto the end of that?

@Hugh Jass: I think he forgot to add ‘in cork hurling’ onto the end of it, not just ‘in cork’

@Hugh Jass: obviously cannot read! For most Cork people it would be the most prestigious job in hurling!

No all Ireland since ’05 – a huge length of time by Cork standards. There will be major pressure on the next man, esp after the Munster success this year.

A role in the new setup for Sully would still be a massive boost for the Cork team.

He has to be involved in some capacity for the sake of continuity at least. Theres been a massive improvement in defence especially Damien Cahalane which id put down to sullys influence. Hes right not to assume he’ll be involved but anyone with sense will keep himself and meyler on board.

I was hoping to read comments and see who might be up for the job. Instead we get comments from students and the unemployed who have plenty of time on their hands to be arguing over nothing at all.
    Nice one lads
