GERMAN RIDER JOHN DEGENKOLB (HTC) took his second stage victory of this year’s Critérium du Dauphiné, taking today’s sprint finish into Macon ahead of Norway’s Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) and Juan Jose Haedo (SaxoBank).
The majority of the 172-man field were awarded the same time as Degenkolb after the peloton followed him over the line, with Englishman Bradley Wiggins (Sky) hanging on to his 1’11″ lead and the race’s yellow jersey as a result.
Irish contender Nicolas Roche finished towards the front of the main bunch, consolidating his position in sixteenth place in the general classification standings.
Tomorrow’s stage sees the peleton make the 210-kilometre journey to the Alpine village of Les Gets.
