Davy's LIT hit four goals en route to Fitzgibbon Cup win as WIT and IT Carlow also triumph

LIMERICK IT, WATERFORD IT and IT Carlow all got their Fitzgibbon Cup campaigns off to a winning start today.

Davy Fitzgeraldโ€™s Limerick IT claimed a comfortable 4-16 to 0-10 win tonight in Group A with an away game against Maynooth University.

At the interval, Limerick IT were ahead 1-10 to 0-4 with Limerickโ€™s Diarmuid Byrnes scoring their goal. Clareโ€™s David Reidy and Peter Duggan both raised green flags in the second-half before Galwayโ€™s Paul Killeen notched their fourth goal.

This afternoon in Group B, last yearโ€™s finalists Waterford IT saw off St Patโ€™s Drumcondra by 1-19 to 0-9.

At the break, Waterford IT trailed 0-6 to 0-4 but they completely took over proceedings in the second-half with Waterfordโ€™s Austin Gleeson netting.

In the other clash in Group B, it ended 1-22 to 1-8 in favour of IT Carlow against DCU in Carlow tonight.

Waterfordโ€™s Colin Dunford struck IT Carlowโ€™s goal as they went in front 1-9 to 0-5 at the interval. Peter Hogan hit the net for DCU late on but it ended up a comfortable win for IT Carlow.

    If we donโ€™t come close to the all blacks this test we never will. We have the most experienced side in years and they are in a new era with new coaches and some new players. Mike Ross will be a huge loss. Letโ€™s hope heโ€™s back in time. Come on Ireland

    Itโ€™s not Kidneyโ€™s fault we have a huge injury list, with such a depleted squad weโ€™ll be expected to get well beaten even though Iโ€™m sure the younger players stepping up to the mark will put in a good effort

    We all know we are going to get a slapping, so whats wrong with sending outa bunch of uncapped potential future internationals, let them experience the pain of a humiliating defeat and hopefully they can grow from that?

    First match since new Zealand became world champions !! God help us they will put over 50 points on us unfortunately
