LIVERPOOLโS DANIEL AGGER has voiced his frustration at failing to nail down a regular starting place under Brendan Rodgers this season.
While Rodgersโ men challenged for the Premier League title, Agger was often overlooked for a starting spot in favour of Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel, having also suffered with injuries.
With the Denmark international having previously stated his intention to ignore speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona, Agger revealed his frustration, stating Rodgers did not feel he was โgood enoughโ.
He stopped short of confirming any plans to leave Anfield but warned he would not be content to be a substitute next season.
Asked about being benched for the crucial late fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City, he told Ekstra Bladet: โIt definitely wasnโt great. But I donโt make the decisions. I think it is because the manager doesnโt think that Iโm good enough.
โ(My future at Liverpool is) up to the manager. I canโt go and put myself on the team sheet. Iโm no-oneโs third choice.โ
Agger moved to Liverpool in 2006 from Brondby and has made 232 appearances during his time with the club โ winning the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Yes and yes. Was also great to see Tom Parsons on last nights panel.
@Sam Walsh: Be it on the Sunday Game last night or at the last Mayo match or on Off the Ball, every appearance heโs made since the injury would make you admire the man and his positivity. A tireless battler on the pitch and clearly the same off it.
@EnKy: a honest player.
Shane Walsh was the best player on the pitch in the Hyde by a country mile. There was no other contenders.
I thought John conlon would get it, his having a great year so far, a man with the strenght of 2 horses as buff egan would say !!!!
Tony Kelly for me, drove Clare on in the second half.
Shanahan had a great game no doubt but itโs easy look good as the spare man. Saw it a lot over the last few years with Waterford sweepers picking up heaps of man of the match awards. Conlon for me for consistency over the game. If Kelly could consistently play for 70 the way he did in the second half heโd never fail to win a MOTM again
@Ciarรกn: Bill cooper all day long. Won the match for Cork nearly on his own.
