'I don't play for money': Man City target Dani Alves announces he's leaving Juventus

The Brazilian defender is expected to move to England.

DANI ALVES SAID he does not โ€œplay for moneyโ€ when confirming his exit from Juventus ahead of a prospective move to Manchester City.

Juve chief executive Giuseppe Marotta last week announced Alvesโ€™ contract in Turin would be terminated, despite his deal having another season to run, with the right-back set on departing.

The 34-year-old is expected to be reunited with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, under whom he won three LaLiga titles and two Champions Leagues.

After missing out on a treble with defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Alves bade farewell to Juve and expressed how much he enjoyed the 2016-17 campaign in Italy.

โ€œI would like to thank all the Juventus fans for the year I experienced, the team-mates for welcoming me like the professionals that they are, for a club that wins and reaches finals,โ€ he wrote in an Instagram post, insisting money played no part in his decision.

โ€œI think that my respect for this club and its supporters was my dedication, my passion and all the efforts to make this club a greater club every single day.

โ€œI apologise to the Juventus fans if sometimes they thought I had done something to offend them. This was never my intention, I just have a very spontaneous approach to life that few understandโ€ฆ although it appears that I am not perfect, however, my heart is pure.

โ€œToday ends our professional relationship and I will take with me all of those who with love and true heart make Juve a great club. As everyone knows, I always say what I think and feel.

โ€œI feel that I should say thank you to Mr Marotta for the opportunity he gave me, heโ€™s a great professional and someone who loves his job like few others.

โ€œI donโ€™t play football for money, I play football because I love the profession and those who are part of it. I leave it up to you to judge what I have done and worked for.

โ€œI love football and money will never keep me in any place.โ€

Barkley was right. LeBron already has the highest paid team in the league. If he wants to complain about not having a backup point guard he should go to the boardroom, not the media.

Bringing Barkleyโ€™s past into it is a cheapshot aimed at deflecting from Barkleyโ€™s argument. I respect LeBron as a player but going public was a dumb move, just as โ€˜the decisionโ€™ was.

The decision itself was a good one. The live broadcast announcing the decision was a mistake, and judging by how he announced his return to Cleveland I think LeBron knows it.

One only has to look at the warriors to understand why lebron is freaking out. Cavs sneak by in a finals series that could easily have gone the other way, and then the warriors go and add Durant! Canโ€™t see the cavs competing with this years warriors team.

Lebron as usual will give it a 110%, be the best player in the series, and then get criticized for been overrun by a superior team.

Lebron has Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, The highest paid roster in the league and they just brought in a great shooter in Kyle Korver. Shut the โ€œfโ€ up and play the game. Stop being a whiney little bytch.
