A YOUNG GIRL was taken to hospital in Texas after being struck by a foul ball during the Chicago Cubsโ 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.
Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr was reduced to tears after his effort struck a child in the crowd and was consoled by his team-mates after the incident.
โWe are not able to disclose any further details at this time,โ the Astros said in a statement after the game, confirming that the girl was receiving medical attention.
โWe send our thoughts and prayers to the entire family.โ
Speaking to reporters after the game, Almora said: โIt was kind of a blur, the rest of that at-bat, then after that half inning I went over to the stands.
I just couldnโt hold it anymore. Iโm just praying, Iโm just speechless, at a loss for words.
โBeing a father for two boys โ God willing I will be able to have a relationship with this little girl for the rest of my life.โ
He added: โI want to put a net around the whole stadium.โ

Passion class respect Klopp + Liverpool = EUREKA. We are Liverpool tra la la la la
Just watched it on MOTD. Unbelievable how Barkley stayed on the pitch, Ashley Williams too. Koeman has no right to complain about the referee and the tackles according to the highlights shown by BBC
@Conor OโNeill: Chan stood on Barkleys arm too so worth a mention to balance your comment. But no excuse for either Barkley tackle or Williams stamp. Straight red to both and Iโm evertonian. The later Iโm surprised with after what happened mid week with Coleman. But that game today proved neither of these clubs are serious challengers. Everton were awful and Liverpool were marginally better. Coutinho is quality and Mane also a handful. Other than that I donโt understand the excitement.
Barkley couldve seen red but i honestly dont think he meant it.Williams lucky as well.we couldve had 2 extra men and still wouldnt have won.that red jersey just makes our players shite themselves.unbelievably frustrating
@Fran Heavey: thereโs certainly some mental block for Everton when they come to Anfield. Regardless of the form of either side, whoโs injured, whoโs playing Everton just never seem to show up when they go there.
