CORK CITY ARE expected to announce the signing of Christian Nanetti as they prepare to begin their 2017 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division campaign away to Finn Harps on Friday night.
Nanetti has most recently been playing for Welling United in the National League South in England. However, according to their manager Tristan Lewis, the 25-year-old has accepted an offer from the FAI Cup holders.
“He’s gone to Cork City and they’ve given him an offer that he couldn’t refuse,” Lewis said. “It’s disappointing. People have been interested in him because his performances have been good, and he will be missed. We tried tooth and nail to keep him.”
Nanetti featured for Cork City in a recent pre-season friendly against Cobh Ramblers at St Colman’s Park. A left-footed winger, the Italian-born player came through the youth set-up at Queens Park Rangers but never made a first-team breakthrough.
Since departing QPR he has led a nomadic existence, playing for the likes of Raith Rovers, AFC Wimbledon and a host of non-league clubs in England, including Havant & Waterlooville and Dover Athletic.
Cork City, who retained the President’s Cup with a 3-0 win over Dundalk on Friday night, are also set to announce the loan signing of Lithuanian U21 international defender Rimvydas Sadauskas after manager John Caulfield confirmed that Kenny Browne has departed the club to return to Waterford.
Best CB in England the last 15 years, Controversial but if Chelsea dont want him, Welcome to Anfield!! Would add steel and leadership to the squad.

Can someone please tell me why people hate john terry, I have a lot of respect for him and what he has accomplished! Genuinely looking for a reason..
@Martin Remington: You’ve been watching to much Dr Phil
@Irin Flynn: catch me out side, how bow da!
@Martin Redington: the reason people hate him is because he’s the captain of Chelsea who after abramovic invested his millions became a powerhouse of the English game they’ve won more trophies than united in that time and don’t even mention Liverpoo or the goonettes that’s the real reason people hate him.
