THE MAN SCHEDULED to fight Ireland’s Conor McGregor on August 17 has pulled out due to injury.
British featherweight Andy Ogle was named as the Dubliner’s opponent back in May but the 24-year-old has withdrawn and the UFC announced late on Wednesday night that Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway will replace him.
After his explosive debut against Marcus Brimage, SBG’s McGregor will be looking to add to his growing reputation with a second victory. And five weeks out from the big night, it has emerged that he is set to step into the Octagon with 21-year-old Hawaii native Holloway (7-2).
Responding to the news on SevereMMA.com, McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh said: “Stylistically this match up has more potential to be a real crowd-pleaser as Holloway tends to strike more.
“He presents an interesting set of problems and also has a pretty good name Stateside so I believe he’s an excellent match up for Conor’s US debut.
Prediction? Holloway is good technical fighter but I don’t see him getting out of the first round.
“I’d also like to wish Ogle a speedy recovery - who knows maybe that match up can happen down the road.”
Reminds me of a young Lee Carsley
Very talented kid no doubt. I don’t know why this has made headlines though, I would imagine Real, Barca etc see hundreds of such kids every year. Maybe its because he is from the states
Some talent, if by the time he hits 16 he has managed to stay away from the fags, cider and women he has a chance
Or his greedy agent!!
Could say the same for any of us!
Yikes he is scarily talented
Very similar to a video of a young Aiden McGeady. Nuff said…
I wouldn’t say they see hundreds of kids like him, actually.
