HOT ON THE heels of confirmation from Westmeath that Ray Connellan is heading to Florida for an AFL talent combine next month comes similar news surrounding Galway’s dual star Cillian McDaid.
Galway Bay FM are reporting that McDaid is one of three Irish players who will be flying to the US in January – Connellan and Kilkenny’s Darragh Joyce the other two.
All three caught the eye at the recent AFL Europe talent combine, held at Dublin City University, and have been handed the opportunity to go a step further as scouts from Aussie Rules clubs run the rule over the trio again.
Craughwell starlet McDaid won an All-Ireland minor hurling medal with Galway this year, coming on as a late sub in the final victory against Tipperary.
He was also the player who salvaged a Connacht minor football final replay for Galway, before the young Tribesmen ran riot at the second time of asking.
He needs Cyrus Christy with him that man can clear it
Randolph is an unmerciful pillock. Westwood must be egging O’Neill’s gaff or letting the air out of his tyres or something like that. How is he not getting a go?
He got a go, not up to international standard, thought he left in some soft goals against the Germans
Randolph is not a ‘pillock’. He has proven himself as a top keeper. I suspect you are a troll looking for attention.
Westwood is way down the pecking order. He was the Sunderland goalie under MON and completely blew it! Let 6 in at home against Germany – neither he nor Darren O Dea gave played since. They were both mikes off the pace. Forde played brilliantly in the interim, but if Randolph can get plenty of game time at West Ham he could hold this position for a few years.
