CHIRS HUGHTON HAS dismissed the notion of managing Ireland, stating that he does not currently have “any ambitions to manage at international level.”
The Brighton and Hove Albion boss played for the Boys in Green during his career and later worked as assistant coach to Brian Kerr during Kerr’s tenure at the helm of the Irish team.
After wins over Gibraltar and Georgia, Martin O’Neill’s Ireland are now on course to make the Euro 2016 play-offs, but Hughton says that he has no interest in returning to the international fold, even if O’Neill fails to guide the team to the tournament in France next year.
“Lots of people have said that to me but I don’t have any ambitions to manage at international level, only because of where I am at the moment,” Hughton told the Argus.
“I think as a manager you want to manage at the highest level possible and international management is one of those higher levels. But I think always the best way to approach your work is to concentrate on what you are doing.
“What I’m doing here takes up so much of your time and your thoughts and so much of your life that you don’t really think about too much outside of the job here at Brighton.”

I think everyone knows the reason and it’s not football! Hodgson is just the FA’s puppet..
Should have been micah Richards. There is only a debate about Rio Ferdinand because of the racism row.
Rio Ferdinand is more that capable of doing a job for England, instead, Martin Kelly gets a call up. Im pretty happy though, the less united players that play in euro 2012 the better.
