CELTIC STRIKER Albian Ajeti faces a potential two-match ban after being charged with simulation.
The Switzerland international has been accused of causing referee Kevin Clancy to wrongly award the Hoops a penalty during their 4-0 Scottish Premiership victory over Kilmarnock on Tuesday.
With Celtic leading 1-0 through a Scott Brown goal, Ajeti tumbled to the ground inside the penalty area early in the second half as Killie keeper Colin Doyle came out to challenge.
Odsonne Edouard converted the penalty and the French striker grabbed his second 10 minutes later, with Ajeti adding a fourth with three minutes remaining.
A fast-track Scottish Football Association hearing has been pencilled in for Monday if Celtic challenge the notice of complaint.
After the game, Kilmarnock’s interim boss James Fowler had questioned the penalty award.
He said: “I’ve seen some of the goals back and certainly when you look at their second, I don’t think it’s a penalty.
“Speaking to the fourth official, he said the referee and the linesman were having a conversation and there was a delay in the award, so that tells its own story.”
Meanwhile, Brown faces no retrospective action after a panel of former referees looked at footage of his clash with Kilmarnock’s Aaron Tshibola and deemed it not to be violent conduct.
Aaaaaaaaah stop, he was touched and he played the modern game. Went down and won the penalty. Go to the dark side of glasgow and take some action there. Roofe should have seen a straight red last night, morelos the same last week. The masons helping the huns stop the 10
@Brian Stafford: You cannot help but mention Rangers in a Celtic article. The ‘dark side’ and only a couple of months ago Celtic fans were hurling items at their own players. I think you should also mention Shane Duffy in helping Rangers to the league title.
@James Elphick: because the difference between the treatment from the refs and sfa is like chalk and cheese. I suppose you’re going to defend everything your dirty players have been getting away with.
@Brian Stafford: Is that your excuse? Fairly sure Celtic have more red cards than Rangers this season so there’ll be no need to defend that boy. I suppose you’re going to defend the actions of the so called supporters?
@James Elphick: I think you are on the wrong site there bluenose.
@James Elphick: why are you even on an Irish site?you just get on here to troll at least I’m Irish.
On this Day: Diving discovered in Football…give me a break. Someone like Robben or Neymar would be down millions if they kept tabs and put fines on them this closely
How can he get a 2 game ban, when this is only a yellow card offence when spotted in a match?
Yet martial gets away Scott free, typical
@Alan Brennan: Alan you need to stop obsessing mate, it’s not good for you.
@Alan Brennan: you will send yourself to a early grave yet over utd..
At this rate the refs might as well pack it in , you can be sure if they went back on the games played so far , a lot more players would be banned going by this decision .what happens if that was a cup final and the game finished one nil , would it be replayed and the player banned , absolute rubbish from the sfa .
Diving and leaving the leg there to get the contact should be investigated after every incident with retrospective bans and fines handed out. I know it isn’t always 100% clear every time but it needs to be eradicated from the game. We used to do it as kids and kids these days are still doing it because it’s what they see their favourite players doing every week.
