Cavan 0-13
Fermanagh 0-11
TWO LATE POINTS by Martin Dunnne ensured Cavan enjoyed a successful trip to Enniskillen in todayโs Ulster senior football quarter-final clash.
9,352 spectators were present in Brewster Park to see the Breffni County get the better of their near neighbors Fermanagh.
The Breffni County wre seeking to build on their preliminary round success over Armagh and it was their match winner in that game Martin Dunne who produced a vital contribution again here.
The teams were tied at 0-11 apiece when Dunne floated over a glorious left-footed shot from play from the left wing in the closing stages and then tapped over a close-range free.
Cavan had to soak up a late barrage of pressure from Fermanagh before prevailing to ensure they will face Monaghan at the semi-final stage.
The result means Cavan have claimed two successive victories in the Ulster senior championship for the first time since 2001 as Terry Hylandโs side are starting to build on the promise the county has showed at U21 level.
Half-Time
Cavan lead by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break. The opening period was an extremely poor affair with Cavan lead by 0-3 to 0-0 after 6 minutes โ with Niall McDermott impressing โ but there was then no score chalked up for 17 minutes.
Cian Mackey, who was magnificent throughout for Cavan, fired over a point to break the impasse but it was not until the 25th minute that Fermanagh finally got off the mark courtesy of Ryan Jones.
The Erne County built on that to cut the gap to 0-5 to 0-3 yet Eugene Keating banged over a pair of brilliant scores before the interval to stretch Cavanโs lead.
The standards improved in the second-half but Cavan continued to dicate matters as substitute Martin Reillyโs point sent them in front by 0-9 to 0-6.
However Fermanagh fought back with substitutes Daniel Kille and Tomas Corrigan, who shared 0-6 between them, making a significant impact as Peter Canavanโs side drew level at 0-11 apiece.
And it needed Dunneโs late intervention to swing the advantage towards Cavan by the finish.

The motivator (Klopp)
vs.
the tactician (heynckes)
The tactician to to win in the end, Bayern 3-1 and muller (as always) first scorer.
Should be a great game, I hope Dortmund can do it!
Gundogen versus Schweiny. In already getting tent pants just thinking about it.
Hillary if you keep going you might get that lovely arm of yours around your neck !!
Only joking.
Dortmund 7-2. I wonder hmmmm
Think bayern will beat them 3-1 thatโs my bet for the match
Those were two worthy winners up there, though both sides had aging players and disappeared off the radar after those successes. Great to see them back again.
@ Denis
The Germans shouldnโt get too carried away.
Meaning: Donโt start boasting, try to be modest. And they are fairly modest about it all.
You took this in the wrong way and then went on from there.
โฆThereโs always one trying to rain on the parade.
Who is trying to rain on the paradeโฆ..
The Germans shouldnโt get too carried away.
Weโve already had an all-Spanish, Italian and English final.
Real Madrid vs. Valenica, AC Milan vs. Juventus, Man Utd vs. Chelsea.
Barcelona, Man Utd and the other big boys will be back next yearโฆ..
Whoโs getting carried away? All they said was its great to have an all German final!
They didnโt declare they are the worlds greatest league like so many players and commentators in England do, nor did they mention anything about next yearโฆ
Thereโs always one trying to rain on the parade, just enjoy the spectacle of two very attacking teams trying to dismantle each other!
