FORMER KILDARE DEFENSIVE star Anthony Rainbow will take charge of the Carlow senior footballers for the 2013 season.
Rainbow’s appointment was ratified last night at a special meeting of the Carlow county board and ensures he will succeed Luke Dempsey as manager. Rainbow was involved this season in a coaching capacity with Carlow and will now be at the helm after Dempsey brought his reign to a close in the wake of their All-Ireland qualifier loss to Laois earlier this summer.
Rainbow enjoyed a long and extensive career with the Lilywhites, winning Leinster senior championship medals in 1998 and 2000 with the county.
It has also been confirmed that former Wexford and Cork senior hurler John Meyler is to be the new Carlow senior hurling manager next season. Meyler has huge coaching experience from recent years having taken charge of the Wexford and Kerry senior hurling sides.
He lead the Kingdom to the Christy Ring Cup title last year but stepped down from that position when their campaign concluded this year. Meyler will now replace Kevin Ryan in Carlow.
Good luck Anthony. Class underage rugby player ! Fearless.
