FORMER WORLD CUP-winning Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro has been handed a 10-month jail sentence, it has emerged today.
The 41-year-old ex-Real Madrid and Juventus star has been punished for ignoring orders to keep out of his property following its seizure by authorities.
Cannavaro is currently under investigation for tax evasion, with authorities seizing approximately €1m worth of goods from him last October.
The Italian football legend, who currently manages Guangzhou Evergrande in China, is now expected to fulfil a 10-month sentence, while his wife and brother were also given custodial sentences.
However, the trio’s sentences are currently suspended pending an appeal.

Any Italian jail sentence under 2 years is automatically suspended so it’s unlikely we’ll see Cannavaro behind bars.

They can suspend sentence shorter then 2 years if is a crime that cannot be repeated ,and the person is – incensurato – and if the pubblico ministero agree and if and if and if I can guarantee u that is v hard to get a sentence suspended just because is less then 2 years ,just as hard as is to get servizi sociali if ur sentence is less then 3…

The police know that ppl will get their throat cut so they suspend their sentence and try to give them less then 4 years . Ordinari ppl do the sentence or use” the conditionale ” which clear any sentence up to 3 years and clear any records of it so that ur ” Fedina penale ” will stay white clean .meaning u get sentence and If u didn’t use it before ,then u can use this 3 years bonus of ur condizionale” and u don’t go in and don’t get records . This is for any one from 14 years age on. He surely get the condizionale but is not a rule anything is possible here

Last year Eddie Irvine got a 6 month jail sentence in Italy for causing a bar fight but it was suspended because it was under the 2 year threshold.
