FORMER CORK CITY defender Brian Lenihan has signed a new one-year contract with Hull City having recently returned to action following knee surgery.
The 22-year-old joined the Tigers in August 2014 on a three-year deal but his opportunities have been limited after two separate injury layoffs.
Lenihan’s one and only appearance for Hull came 12 months ago, against Bolton Wanderers, but he has recently worked his way back to full fitness and featured for the club’s U23 side in their run to the Professional Development League play-off final.
After moving to the KCOM Stadium from Cork, the Ireland U21 international signed a one-month loan deal with Blackpool in November 2014 but it was during his stay at Bloomfield Road when he sustained a serious knee injury.
Lenihan had been drafted into Martin O’Neill’s Ireland squad during the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign in October 2014 but his progress was then halted by another setback and he went under the knife last summer.
His new deal with Hull also includes a club option to add a further year.

Madness at their age and the abuse their bodies have already taken. Is there a demand to watch this?
Collins didn’t knock any sense into him.
@Etherman: no, he must have knocked it out of him.
Money issues in the Benn household I wonder? no other logical reason at his age
@Seagoat returns: apparently hes minted it just an itch he has to scratch…..
Rocky XXIV
And Oliver McCall, why???
Where is Chwis Eubank these days? with his sartorial elegance and spartan outlook. Was youth hostelling last I heard as suggested by Norwich’s finest!
@LukeDuke: well he seems to keep himself in alright nick by all accounts, judging by the skin tight shorter than short sleeve shirts and dickybows he does be wearing. That would have my attention. Otherwise what the hell is the point in Benn fighting anyone? Bar Collins. And he’s heavily invested in his gut.
The dark destroyer was fearsome he just had a glass jaw unfortunately for him.
