OFFALY MAN BRIAN Gavin will take charge of this yearโs All-Ireland senior hurling final between Cork and Clare.
The teams meet in Croke Park on Sunday September 8th and it will be Gavin who will referee the game.
The GAA have confirmed the appointment this afternoon and it will mark Gavinโs second time in charge of an All-Ireland final.
The experienced referee previously took charge of the meeting of Kilkenny and Tipperary in 2011 and unusually he was injured in that game when he was accidentally struck by Tommy Walsh when players from both sides clashed.
Gavin is a highly experienced whistler and has taken charge of high-profile matches already in this summerโs championship.
He was in charge when Limerick defeated Tipperary in Juneโs Munster semi-final tie in the Gaelic Grounds and when Kilkenny defeated Tipperary in their All-Ireland qualifier clash in Nowlan Park in July.
Gavin was also the referee for the All-Ireland quarter-final clash of Galway and Clare in Semple Stadium in July.
The standby referee for the senior game is Westmeathโs James McGrath with Tipperaryโs Johnny Ryan the linesman and the sideline official will be Wexfordโs James Owens.
Meanwhile the All-Ireland minor hurling final between Galway and Waterford will be refereed by Corkโs Cathal McAllister.
Iโm Glad Juan Cuadrado made a career for himself in football after kris kross broke up.
Hardly a surprise, Sky Sports News is that underwhelming the other 364 days as well
With Chelsea and City probably going to stretch ahead even more you would and the race for top 4 tightening you would think a few teams could have strengthened. I would say it will be a busy summer though .
Who actually watches this shit?!
