LEAGUE ONE SIDE Blackpool were forced to delete one of the clubโs official Twitter accounts yesterday after a foul-mouthed response to a fan.
The fan offered to donate ยฃ20 to the Gary Parkinson Foundation if the pitch was in โgoodโ condition for the first home game of the season. Supporters have criticised the state of the surface at Bloomfield Road in the past and were further angered when a Neil Diamond concert was held at the ground last month.
The account in question was @CommercialBFC, set up to update fans on their PR and commercial activities. After an initial argument, after which the fan said he would honour the offer but only because the charity was a good cause, the account replied: โBack track, typical a***hole w******โ.
The club have now addressed the matter with a statement on their website. They claim the account was not being operated by a current employee when the tweet was sent and confirmed the account has been discontinued.
The full statement reads:
โThe club has been made aware of comments emanating from a Twitter account overnight that has previously advertised commercial opportunities.
โThis account has not been utilised for promotional purposes by the club for some time and is not accessible to any current employees.
โThe club does not condone the views expressed and has since had this account removed. The only official account for football club business on Twitter is @blackpoolfc, while hotel enquiries can be directed to @bfchotel.โ
McAteer never fails to have a go at Kerr any chance he gets. Strange after so many years. He made his disrespect for Kerrโs suitability for the job clear in his book. Maybe thatโs the way he acted towards Kerr from day 1.
I dont like him. He is a mouth piece. It took nearly 10 daysโฆ.so is that 9 days then? Why not just say 9 days then
Hopefully there is just as big a turnout for this as there was for the Liam Miller tribute. Sean didnโt play Premier League football so wonโt have earned the millions that footballers do. He also needs on going care. All in all the Cox family which be much more in need of the money than the Miller family.
@John Horan: well i hope you have ur ticket then.
He was never a International player more like a headless chicken.
