ARSENAL HAVE OFFICIALLY parted company with manager Unai Emery.
The decision comes on the back of last night’s Europa League game at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, which saw the Gunners relinquish a first-half lead en route to a 2-1 defeat.
The North London club, who currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League table, are without a win in their last seven games in all competitions.
“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required,” reads a statement released this morning by Arsenal.
While the search for a successor to Emery proceeds, former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg — who had already been a member of the first-team coaching ticket — will take interim charge of the side ahead of Sunday’s game against Norwich City.
Speaking on behalf of the Arsenal board and owners, Josh Kroenke said: “Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.”
Emery was appointed Arsenal manager in the summer of 2018. The 48-year-old Spaniard replaced Arsene Wenger, who departed after a 22-year tenure.

Typical of Arsenal to try get 30% off his payout on Black Friday
@Cian Murray: 50% actually haha
@Cian Murray: Paddy Power asked for their joke back
Seems like a decent man, didnt work out for him. Didn’t like how he was treated be certain sections of the Arsenal fanbase…anyways onwards and upwards! COYG
@Pseudonym: horrible club
@The Guru: how is Arsenal a horrible club? Please be specific
@Tom49☘️: lol
@Tom49☘️: treated two of the nicest men in football like absolute dirt.
@The Guru: Emery wasn’t good enough, he got booed by sections of the crowd. Same thing happens at most clubs so I don’t know how you can say the club is horrible because of that.
@The Guru: Haha. Has any other the other clubs in England sacked a manager?
@The Guru: he didn’t get the results, the team performance has been shockingly bad, in fairness he could have lost job several weeks ago. The lack of tactics, lack of consistency on how they played was obvious. The negative results weren’t needed.
@The Guru: however I will say this, Arsenal have the worst fans in English football.
@Tom49☘️: it was more than just “sections of the crowd”. They booed their captain off the pitch and he was forced to take a mental health break. Some of the banners about Wenger, their most successful manager ever were a disgrace, and that’s before I even get started on Arsenal Fan TV!
@The Guru: Arsenal Wenger was a poor manager in the end. While he won lots of trophies early in his time at Arsenal his performance dipped near the end. His philosophy of trying to win the premiership and champions league playing total football just didn’t work. This is a results based business so fans turn. Remember arsenal have one of the most expensive season tickets so the fans expect to win
@The Guru: You’re talking about the fans here though, not the club. How is the club itself “horrible”?
@Pseudonym: the video of fans stopping aubameyangs car and abusing him is scandalous seeing as he’s one of their few consistent players
@The Guru: aftv is a YouTube channel. Idiots on camera outside the stadium doesn’t make Arsenal a horrible club. And as for fans booing and banners, it happens at lots of clubs, idiots at every club.
Bad ebening.
It’d be class if Poch took over and won the league with em
@Mel Fitzpatrick: Haha. He won’t do it this season anyways
@Mel Fitzpatrick: I don’t know which is funnier. The fact u think potch might go to Arsenal or the fact you think Arsenal have any chance of winning the league any time soon
@Mel Fitzpatrick: I don’t know which is funnier. The fact u think potch might go to Arsenal or the fact you think Arsenal have any chance of winning the league any time soon

@@Kevinro1980: I don’t know which one of yer posts are funnier.
@@Kevinro1980: I don’t know which is funnier, the first time your posted, or the second time, or the third time!
@Gerard McDermott: the fact I wrote your instead of you is funny too!
@@Kevinro1980: Why wouldn’t he join Arsenal? Spurs sacked him so showed no loyalty to him. Secondly didn’t Georgie Graham has crossed this divide. If Arsenal go for him he could easily join them
@Decko49: Spurs showed no loyalty to him? Really? They let him go after FIVE years with a substantial pay-off, after an abysmal SIX months of shite results. I think that he got a fair crack of the whip actually.
@Decko49: Poch said he wanted to join a big Club!
Funny that players are never sacked due to under performance
Gary neville’s free
Since their move from Highbury years ago arsenal have never been the same club
He won a treble of European cups and beat a Klopp team in one of the finals, but he’s not good enough for Arsenal.
The new Spurs ladies and gentlemen.
@Ciarán: I think Spurs 2019 are the new Spurs.
@Ciarán: Arsenal are worse under Emery than they were at Wenger’s lowest point. So yes he wasn’t good enough for Arsenal if they want to compete with the top teams.
@Ciarán: Correct about not good enough for Arsenal.
@Ciarán:
A few managers have beaten Klopp teams in finals.
@Tom49☘️: The Arsenal Board need to look at themselves. The real challengers in the Premier League realise you need a good defence if you are to challenge seriously for trophies and have paid big money for defenders. Arsene Wenger & the Arsenal Board don’t believe defenders are worth the money. David Luiz can’t defend. Mourinho knew that & sold him for €50 million. I know €50 million. Mourinho probably couldn’t believe it. Despite all David Luiz’s experience @ the top level he hasn’t picked up any defensive skills. Sol Campbell was the last good defensive purchase.
@Nathan Carr: and we got him for nothing! #solsagooner
@Ciarán: it’s 4,297 days today (29/11/19) since Spuds last one a major trophy. Now back in yr box…good lad.
@Nathan Carr: he must be ok if he played/play for Chelsea, PSG, Brazil and Arsenal. He’s not completely useless.
@Nathan Carr: if coached properly I think the likes of Tierney, Hector, Holding could work well together with another CB maybe.
“Wegner Back” signs being printed as we speak.
@Sam Cairns: Including the misspelling?
@Brendan Moriarty: get a life..
The all-knowing David Ornstein has said that Emery was apparently unaware this morning that he was facing the sack. Nice man, but that shows just how naïve he was. Surprised he’s lasted so long in football if that’s the case.
Players have to take some responsibility, awful attitude and performances
@ger gavin: Exactly. But the manager takes the ultimate responsibility
Arsenal will never compete for a title as the board are more interested in EBITDA than silverware. Arsenal need new owners. Owners with a passion for the game rather owners looking to build up a portfolio of brands.
@Conor Lynn: yes totally don’t worry about balancing the books. Don’t think about what happened to Leeds, Charlton or Portsmouth.
@Conor Lynn: it shouldn’t be either/or. These aren’t mutually exclusive. Uefa needs to enforce financial fair play.
@John Horan: That’s not what I said. Balancing the books is very important and anyone who suggests otherwise is delusional. If you read my post again, you will see that the point I am trying to make, perhaps not well enough, is that the current owners are only interested a return on their investment as opposed to silverware.
@mark d: Stop crying.
@Ciarán: no
@Ciarán: you seem a little defensive there young lad
@Conor Lynn: maybe O should make my point clearer also. Do you think it should be run as a not for profit organisation? So the owner buys it for say a billion pounds and then runs it like a charitable organisation? Which actually means they lose money because of the cost of funds. There are very few people who have a spare billion lying around who don’t need to make a return on the money
@John Horan: I’m a big believer in ROI and EBITDA. Football is just another business. Now that the big clubs are owned by oligarchs, Arabic princes and US billionaires, the beautiful game has become uglier both on and off the pitch.
I stand by my original comment. Arsenal needs owners who want titles………
@Conor Lynn: want titles and have a few billion to lose. How about a million like minded individuals put in 1000 each every year and give it away/lose it?
Wenger was must be secretly chuckling right now…
He should have been sacked for making Xhaka captain. Same way I’m hoping Ole gets sacked for making Lingard captain last night.
Same old arsenal.
Sent for brian Kerr
A pain in the arsenal
Just wasn’t the man for us
Wonder who will be
@Nollaig Kelly: Arteta…..with an entire game of senior team management under his belt.
@Nollaig Kelly: I really hope Pochittino has enough of a gripe with Levy that he will jump on board with the Gunners! He would be a great fit for Arsenal.
@mark d: poch would have zero loyalty to the Spurs. Id like to see him with, but then again I thought Emery would be great for us so what do I know?
@Nollaig Kelly: I thought Emery would push on this season and do well, he went the other way!
Tony Adams must the favourite to take over lol
Pay Mikel Arteta whatever he needs to pry him from Pep’s side, he knows exactly what’s required to rearm the Gunners
Seen this stunt before they’ll have a new boss to replace by this evening,like what happen at spurs!
@Aaron Jones: lolz this arsenal, they won’t.
