Antonio Conte gets top prize at League Managers Association awards

Former Irish international Chris Hughton was also recognised.

ANTONIO CONTE, THE man who brought Chelsea to their fifth Premier League win this year, went home with two awards at the League Managers Awards last night.

The Italian was awarded manager of the year and Premier League manager of the year for bringing the title back to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues finished the year with a record 30 Premier League wins, after finishing 10th last year.

Conte is still on for a double in his first year in England too, with the FA Cup final next Saturday against Arsenal.

The former Italy manager is the second Italian in a row to win the award, after Claudio Ranieri won last year.

Former Irish international Chris Hughton was also named Championship manager of the year, having brought Premier League promotion to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Hughton won the award once before, after guiding Newcastle to promotion back in 2010. Brighton finished second to Newcastle in this year’s Championship.

Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder was named the League One Manager of the Year for the second year in a row after earning 100 points  with the Blades this year, while former Sligo Rovers boss Paul Cook earned the League Two award for his work with Portsmouth.
