HBO KNOW THEIR boxing, so when they say that Ireland’s Andy Lee is one of the top 10 pound-for-pound punchers in the world, it’s certainly a big deal.
The HBO boxing podcast put Andy in as the 10th best single puncher in the world regardless of weight, ahead of his WBO middleweight championship defence against Billy Joe Saunders on September 19 in Thomond Park.
Presenter Eric Raskin said that Lee’s gloves have turned a few potential defeats in sensational victories, and the world champion is joined in the top 10 by fellow middleweights Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux, with Nicaraguan flyweight Román González getting top honour.
