5 'superfoods' which will help you maximise your training results

Give them a go and see for yourself!

WE HAVE ALL heard the old clichรฉ that abs are made in the kitchen.

One of the best way to maximise your training results is to eat fresh natural food. Breakfast is a meal that most people skip because they are running out the door to work.

If you are looking to lose body fat, increase lean muscle mass or anywhere in between then you should be prioritising breakfast as it can minimise your risk of craving sugary foods later in the day.

Here are five breakfast โ€˜superfoodsโ€™ that we love. Give them a go and see for yourself!

Flax Seeds

Flax seeds are a great source of Omega 3 which our body has a very limited ability to produce. It has been reported that these healthy fats can improve the health of your skin and hair. Omega 3 is also found in fish so anyone who dislikes fish can get their Omega 3 hit from flax seeds!

Flax seeds are also known to improve digestion as they are high in fiber. Flax seeds are gluten free so can be used by those with a gluten sensitivity or those free spirits on the โ€˜gluten freeโ€™ train!

Try sprinkling two tablespoons over your porridge or blend in a healthy smoothie for all those great benefits.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that has been used in India for thousands of years to add flavour and spice to many dishes. Recent scientific studies have shown that Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties.

We like to add it to our morning omelettes to kick start our day!

Hummus

Hummus is a dip made up of chickpeas, olive oil, lemon juice and salt. It is a great protein source to have in the morning as protein has a high satiety value which will keep you feeling fuller for longer. Hummus is also gluten free, nut free, and dairy free so if you have any  allergies then youโ€™ll be happy to know that you can eat it without any fear!

Avocado

Avocado is a fruit that is high in healthy fats which are great for keeping the heart healthy. Several scientific studies have shown that avocado has anti-inflammatory properties which is great for anyone who is active or those suffering from achy joints.

If you are not keen on the taste of avocado then try making a simple homemade guacamole dip of avocado, garlic, lime and a pinch of salt.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is an amazing source of Vitamin C which aids in keeping your immune system strong. Like some of the other superfoods mentioned, grapefruit is a powerful antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Try adding segments of grapefruit to your morning yoghurt to get all these great benefits.

Fair call. You have to make a precieved effort to win a triathlon, this was a contrived draw with no competitive finish. Wouldnโ€™t have made a huge difference in this race but rule is there for the ITU series where points are on offer. They should have known the rule.
