IRELAND HAD TO settle for third place today in the FEI Nations Cup of Ireland at the Dublin Horse Show, with Britain getting their hands on the Aga Khan Trophy for the 27th time.
Nevertheless, a top-three finish was sufficient for Ireland to book their place at October’s Nations Cup world final in Barcelona, where a team qualification place for the 2020 Olympics will be at stake.
Riding Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu, Limerick’s Paul O’Shea produced a superb double-clear round at the RDS.
However, the Irish team — which also included Cian O’Connor, Shane Sweetnam and achor rider Darragh Kenny — ultimately finished with 16 faults.
The British quartet of Scott Brash, Holly Smith, Emily Moffitt and Ben Maher romped to victory with just one fault, while Italy had 12 en route to taking second place.
Will be great to see the back of him . Gave it everything he had but never a united player with a very limited skill set .
@Niall James Fergal McCormack:
You could apply the same logic to the majority of the present Utd squad under Mourinho.
@Gerry O’Brien: although they are not playing well I actually think united have a lot of quality players they are just being shackled by Jose’s tactics and poor man management sadly . When he goes some of these players will start to flourish in just hoping players like martial stick out this year and by this time next year Jose will be gone and hopefully we sign an exciting manager and things may start to turn .
@Niall James Fergal McCormack: Yes because most of them did so well under Van Gaal didn’t they. They need a bit of re-evaluation of what they are getting paid to do. It wasn’t a League 2 side that paid for their services. I don’t like my boss but I’m paid to do a job so I get on with it.
@Gerry O’Brien: you’re spot on, that’s why Jose needs to move on a few more Players, Now that Side Show Bob hasn’t signed the contract he was offered !! He scored the odd important goal, but he’s nowhere near the level United in Midfield to at least put in a challenge to City.
@Niall James Fergal McCormack: agree 100% Niall. Only thing I’d hope for would be that Mourinho would go sooner rather than later. It’s not just about losing the cup final on Saturday, the way he’s carried on in the last few months, since the Seville game, is nothing short of outrageous. As I’ve said here many times since then, he s absolutely toxic and is dragging a great club down.
Good Riddance.
@Ray Farrell: absolutely, very limited player. Never liked him. Will be glad to see him go.
See ya
He’ll be missed became an integral part of the team under LVG and at times under Jose when he resorted to the long ball tactic
That’s a shame. He has been Utd’s best outfield player for the last 2-3 seasons.
