This peanut butter energy bar will fuel your workout - and is much cheaper than those in shops

You don’t even need to turn on an oven.

BAKING YOUR OWN energy bars is a great way to save money as well as actually knowing what’s going into your body.

At upwards of €2.50 a pop for some bars on the market they’re certainly not cheap.

However, with these ingredients we estimate you can have a week’s supply for a tenner or so, assuming you don’t eat six a day!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of oats
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Stir all the ingredients together until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Cover and put in the fridge for an hour.
  3. Now, using whatever kitchen utensil is handiest, shape the mixture into whatever size you want.
  4. Put back in the fridge and they’ll be good to go by morning.
  5. Alternatively, make them into peanut balls as they might hold together slightly better.
