Zenit Saint Petersburg just trolled The Daily Mail on Twitter and it was wonderful

The Russian club gained plenty of new followers in the process.

FOOTBALL CLUBS CAN be a little devoid of character when it comes to social media, probably slightly paranoid about the possibility of stepping over the line and creating some bad press.

But there are a few that stick their heads above the parapet and go on the offensive, regardless of the potential repercussions.

Like Zenit Saint Petersburg, for example.

The reigning Russian champions gained a new wave of followers today when they offered up a withering response to the Daily Mail, who had criticised their club badge.

And when the inevitable response came, Zenit were ready for that too, delivering yet another knockout blow.

Magnificent.
