Clermont winger Zac Guildford out for 4 weeks after kebab shop attack

Guildford was kicked in the face after a night out celebrating another player’s birthday.

UPDATED AT 20.21

WINGER ZAC GUILDFORD just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. He was exiled from the All Blacks following a string of alcohol related incidents and many hoped that a move to Clermont could give him a fresh start to concentrate on rugby. Unfortunately, Guildford will miss the next three or four weeks after being kicked in the jaw at a kebab shop.

According to Planet Rugby, Clermont had been happy with Guildford’s behaviour since arriving and he had stayed out of trouble. It is a pity that Guildford seems to have wandered down the Gavin Henson path of being involved in these sort of incidents regardless of where he is playing his rugby.

Hopefully when he returns, he gets his head right because there is no denying his talent.

This is the second late-night fracas involving Clermont players recently, after Benjamin Kayser, Julien Pierre and Aurélien Rougerie were assaulted during a pre-season bonding session.

Guildford has since sent out a few tweets regarding the incident.
