EVERTON MANAGER ROBERTO Martinez described the decision to award Manchester City this dubious penalty as a “football disaster.”

The Toffees went into this morning’s early kick-off at the Etihad as the Premier League’s only unbeaten side but trailed 2-1 at the break.

There were 20 minutes left when Pablo Zabaleta went down under this challenge from Seamus Coleman and was awarded a penalty by referee Jon Moss.

Sergio Aguero scored from the spot to make it 3-1, although the goal will go down as a Tim Howard OG after the unlucky Everton keeper pushed the ball onto the post only for it to come back off his own head and trickle over the line.

In better news for Ireland fans ahead of next week’s World Cup qualifier against Germany, Darron Gibson came off the Everton bench to make his first league appearance of the season.

Gibson, who missed the start of the season due to a knee injury, played the final 27 minutes.
