Yohan Cabaye scores stunner as Newcastle-Liverpool ends all square

So good, it might just even make Joe Kinnear remember his name.

NEWCASTLE DREW 2-2 with Liverpool in the Premier League’s early kick-off at St James’ Park today.

An audacious long-distance strike from Yohan Cabaye gave his side the lead, but Steven Gerrard levelled from the penalty spot after Yanga-Mbiw was sent off for preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity and fouling Luis Suarez in the process.

However, against the odds, 10-man Newcastle regained the lead on 57 minutes, after some sloppy marking from Liverpool allowed Paul Dummett to get on the end of a Cabaye free-kick.

With just under 20 minutes remaining though, Suarez crossed for Daniel Sturridge to head home to set up a nail-biting finish.

And while both sides had chances to win it late on, they ultimately had to settle for a point.
