Yeovil let Birmingham walk in equaliser to make up for 'ungentlemanly' goal

Bizarre footage from Capital One Cup clash between Yeovil and Birmingham last night.

YEOVIL’S PLAYERS STOOD to one side and allowed Birmingham a bizarre equaliser in last night’s Capital One Cup clash.

Birmingham led 2-1 in the final minute of normal time but controversy erupted when Irish goalkeeper Colin Doyle kicked that ball out of play to allow team-mate Dan Burn receive treatment.

Rather than pass the ball back, Yeovil’s Byron Webster collected the ball from the throw-in and lobbed Doyle, forcing the game into extra time and sparking furious protests from the Blues.

Yeovil then went 3-2 ahead in the 105th minute but immediately from the restart, manager Gary Johnson instructed his players to stand aside and allow Lee Novak to walk in the ball unchallenged for an equaliser.

The game finished level at 3-3 after extra time and Yeovil fell victim to their ‘sporting’ gesture, losing 3-2 on penalties.
