Yaya Toure has backed up claims made his agent that he’s thinking of leaving Manchester City.
Earlier today, Dimitry Seluk, Toure’s representative, told The Sun that the Ivorian midfielder felt he’d been disrespected by the Premier League champions and that the club’s failure to wish him a happy birthday during a recent trip to Abu Dhabi was one of the reasons for his discontent.

Many felt the story was simply an age-old ploy to engineer a new deal but Toure only signed a lucrative extension last year.

Instead, it appears Toure is unsettled.
He took to Twitter to give his side of the story and, after a quick joke, he referenced Seluk’s comments, confirming everything his agent said was the truth.
He acknowledged the importance of making an official statement regarding his future and promised to do so once the World Cup is over.
Earlier today, Seluk was interviewed by the BBC to clarify the comments he made to The Sun and didn’t shy away from condemning Manchester City’s behaviour.
Focusing intently on the club’s failure to properly celebrate Toure’s personal landmark, Seluk identified the team’s owners as the main culprits.
None of them shook his hand on his birthday. It’s really sick. He got a cake but when it was Roberto Carlos’ birthday, the president of Anzhi gave him a Bugatti. I don’t expect City to present Yaya with a Bugatti, we only asked that they shook his hand and said ‘we congratulate you’. It is the minium they must do when it is his birthday and the squad is all together.”
Seluk claimed Toure is ‘really upset’ and said that the pair have discussed the possibility of him leaving City.
