WRWC to run ticket exchange, so don't give up hope of seeing Ireland's pool matches just yet

Proceeds from the ‘Wimbledon style’ re-sales will go to the IRFU Charitable Trust.

THE WOMEN’S RUGBY World Cup hope to be able to re-sell a number of tickets during the tournament’s pool stages in UCD next month.

The Belfield Bowl – venue for all three of Ireland’s pool fixtures – has been sold out, but tournament director Garrett Tubridy has today announced plans to redistribute tickets in cases where people leave the ground before the day’s final fixtures.

The World Cup pool stages will be played on two pitches in UCD and tickets provide access to either the UCD Bowl or the lower capacity Billings Park – both of which will host three matches on each matchday.

The announcement of the ticket exchange programme today allows fans making an early exit to donate their ticket so that it can be re-sold at face value, with profits donated to the IRFU Charitable Trust.

“Your ticket gets you in to all three games during the day, so you can come and go,” Tubridy explained to The42.

“We’re implementing a system where people can swap their tickets out if they’re not staying for the full day.

A little similar to what they do at Wimbledon. On centre court, if you go to early matches, but not staying for the later ones, you donate your ticket and it’s re-sold with proceeds going to charity.”

“It will have the added advantage of raising funds for the injured players who are assisted by the IRFU Charitable Trust. We believe this will be a win-win for all involved. We would call on all fans who are attending an early match on any day in UCD, to seek out our Ticket Exchange volunteers when they leave the venue and help support injured players in the process.”

Tickets for matchday one in Billings Park and the finals stages in Kingspan Stadium and Queen’s University, remain on general sale.
