Wrap-up: Armagh down and out after stunning Roscommon fightback

Meanwhile, Cavan produced three goals in ten second half minutes to beat Fermanagh.

ARMAGH’S ALL-IRELAND SERIES came to a crashing halt on Sunday, as they went down to a spirited fightback from Roscommon at Dr. Hyde Park.

The Rossies were taken apart in the first half, with Jamie Clarke scoring 1-3 in a virtuoso performance.

The visitors were five points clear at the break, 1-7 to 0-5, but Roscommon turned things around immediately after the whistle.

Senan Kilbride scored within 30 seconds of the restart and Armagh were held to just two more points in the entire game, as Roscommon stole a 1-11 to 1-9 victory.

At Brewster Park, Cavan pulled off a quite stunning comeback to beat Fermanagh and advanced to the second round of All-Ireland qualifiers.

The Breffni County found themselves six points adrift with barely 20 minutes remaining but fought back to score 3-3 in the space of ten minutes, with the goals coming from Gearoid McKiernan, Niall McDermott and Eugene Keating.

Daniel Kille was the dangerman for Fermanagh, grabbing a personal haul of 0-9, but ultimately Cavan would seal a 3-13 to 0-15 win.
