IRISH SAILORS MATT McGovern and Ryan Seaton finished eighth in the medals race of the 49er class at the World Sailing Championships in Perth, Australia on Sunday.
The result saw the duo placed tenth overall, a personal best for the pair.
Olympic qualification has been secured in three classes over the course of the Championships, so the Irish team is now looking forward to a break over the festive period before stepping up preparations for London early in the New Year.
“A very strong to the Olympic campaign for us,” James O’Callaghan, ISA Performance Director, said.
“We achieved our target of qualifying three classes at this event and the three campaigns finished in the top 12.
