Flying stools and devastating punches: there was a lot of boxing action last night

There was plenty of drama all around the boxing world last night, not just in Dublin.

IRISH BOXERS JOHN Joe Nevin and Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan both recorded knockout wins at the 3Arena last night but Matthew Macklin was defeated in the main event of the night.

Nevin took just 88 seconds to record a first round knockout win over England’s Jack Heath in what was the Mullingar boxers second fight after recovering from a vicious assault suffered last April.

The fight was one of the most one-sided you’ll ever see as Heath looked way out of his depth and probably shouldn’t have been in the same ring as an Olympic medalist.

Also on the undercard for the Macklin fight was Corkman Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan’s grudge match with Anthony Fitzgerald.

This was another fight that didn’t make it to the second round as ‘Spike’ landed a devastating haymaker that sent Fitzgerald to the floor.

There was controversy after the fight as well as a stool appeared to be thrown at O’Sullivan while he celebrated in the ring.

And, just to brighten up your Sunday morning we thought we’d bring you heavyweight champion of the world Wladimir Klitschko’s fifth round knockout punch.

The Ukranian maintained his title by flooring Kubrat Pulev with a punch that may turn you off your breakfast. The impact is bone-shattering.
