Within reach: Stephen Ferris 'excited' ahead of Dublin trip

Nerves aren’t a factor for the Irish side ahead of the spin down the road to the Aviva Stadium, according to the talismanic flanker.

ULSTER FLANKER Stephen Ferris says confidence is high in the Irish side’s camp ahead the Heineken Cup clash with Edinburgh tomorrow.

The northern province have not reached the final four of the European Cup since they won it outright in 1999.

Fancied to clinch a spot with a win over the Scots in Dublin, however, Ferris reckons his side can match the Ulster team that claimed the trophy 13 years ago.

“There isn’t really anyone who is nervous,” Ferris said. ”It is more excitement and looking forward to kick off. We are confident that we can go down there and get a good result.

“It is good that we have got big victories over Edinburgh (this season), but we’ve got to keep concentrating on ourselves and just try and get a good result,” he said.

“They are a different animal in the Heineken Cup and with all their Scottish internationals back it will be a very tight game. But we believe we can get the right result.”
