Wimbledon Mens' Final: Federer one set away from Wimbledon glory.

The Fed Express is really starting to motor now although Andy Murray has shown tremendous fight.

ROGER FEDERER IS nearing Wimbledon title number seven after winning the third set of the Mens’ Final 6-3.

Federer began the set with a comfortable game won to love. Murray was then held at 30-30 in his first service match before landing some big serves to see it out.

The Swiss led 40-0 when the rains arrived and halted play for 30 minutes. He wrapped up the game upon his return to court.

Murray made it 2-2 soon after despite a stupendously disguised drop shot from Federer midway through.

Federer won his service game to love and there then followed a 12 minute match than could ultimately decide the contest.

Crucial game

Murray led 40-0 before Federer fought his way back into the game with a series of stunning returns and ground-strokes.

The Scot had another chance to get out of the game when he had advantage but in reality it was Federer calling all the shots. One drop shot had Murray depositing a shot into the net and slipping awkwardly.

The game went back and forth are Murray doggedly hung on but his footing was unsure as he slipped on three separate occasions.

Eventually the sheer effort of trying to claw back stinging backhands and pounding forehands became too much and Federer went 4-2 up.

Closing it out

There followed another easy service game for Federer and Murray won his serve to 15 to make it 5-3.

Federer was tagged back at 30-30 in the set’s final game but found two large serves to capture the third set.

The Swiss is looking in ominously good form as set four gets underway beneath the centre court roof.
