Wilson set for Ulster second coming

Stephen Ferris is also named in Mark Anscombe’s extended squad for the Pro12 trip to the Dragons on Friday.

ROGER WILSON COULD make his long-awaited Ulster return in Friday’s RaboDirect Pro12 match against the Dragons.

Wilson has been named in Mark Anscombe’s extended squad for the trip to Rodney Parade, the first time he has been fit for selection since suffering a hamstring tear at the end of last season.

After four seasons in the Aviva Premiership with Northampton, the Belfast native returned home to Ravenhill this summer and has been eased back to action in recent weeks, scoring two tries in the Ravens’ loss to Bristol last Sunday.

Ireland internationals Stephen Ferris (back) and Declan Fitzpatrick (medial ligament) return to the squad following absences, while fly-half Niall O’Connor has also been called in to the 26-man panel.

But Anscombe will be without captain Johann Muller who is ruled out of action for eight weeks with a thumb injury sustained last Friday in the Heineken Cup win against Glasgow. Chris Henry will skipper the side in his absence.
