What, no Ronaldo? Robbie Keane names his best XI

There were places for four Irish players in the LA Galaxy striker’s chosen team, however.

THE IRELAND CAPTAIN appeared alongside Fenners and Paul Merson on Sky Sports’ The Football Fantasy Club last night and was asked to name a team of the best XI he’s played with over his 15-year professional career.

Unsurprisingly, Keane, who has had spells with Wolves, Coventry, Inter Milan, Leeds, Spurs, Liverpool, Celtic, West Ham, LA Galaxy and Aston Villa, chose four Irish team-mates with Shay Given, Richard Dunne, Damien Duff and Roy Keane all making the cut.

Gareth Bale was picked ahead of Denis Irwin and Steve Staunton, however, while Robbie opted for former Spurs strike partner Dimitar Berbatov and left out two-time Ballon D’or and World Cup-winner Ronaldo. The team, in a 4-3-3 formation, is as follows:
