Antrim were the puck of a ball away from a remarkable comeback against Wexford

Harry Kehoe was Wexford’s hero after the home side nearly let a huge lead slip.

Wexford 1-24

Antrim 2-20

HARRY KEHOE STRUCK late to halt a remarkable Antrim comeback and snatch a win for 14-man Wexford in Division 1B.

The resurgent Saffrons trailed by eight points midway through the second half but looked to have completed mission impossible with an unanswered 1-6 that gave them the lead.

But Kehoe held his nerve at the death to send the crowd home happy from Wexford Park.

The hosts led 1-12 to 1-9 at the break, Paul Shiels’ goal for Antrim cancelled out by Liam Og McGovern, but they had to play more than half the game with a man less after Tomas Waters was dismissed for striking.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, they completely dominated after the restart and looked to be home and dry at 1-21 to 1-13.

But Antrim chipped away and took a 2-19 to 1-21 lead when a free was flicked in for their second goal, only for Kehoe to deny them at the last.
